Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizens Advisory Committee applications available through Feb. 10

AUBURN, Ala.- The Auburn City Council is accepting applications to fill five vacancies on the Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizens Advisory Committee. Terms will begin March 9, 2025, and end March 8, 2029.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is responsible for carrying out the metropolitan transportation planning process for the Auburn-Opelika area. The Metropolitan Planning Organization Citizens Advisory Committee reviews local transportation plans and changes in public transit and may provide ideas and suggestions for consideration by the Metropolitan Planning Organization Board and Technical Advisory Committee.

The Citizens Advisory Committee consists of 15 members, five of which are appointed by the Auburn City Council. Members serve four-year terms and meet as needed at the Lee Russell Council of Governments. Members must live in the jurisdiction they represent.

Those interested in serving are invited to apply online using the link at auburnalabama.org/boards. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Feb. 10. The City Council will make appointments at its Feb. 18 meeting.
